Shopify: products and translations

Import the product CSV first. For a Ukrainian store, fill Russian translations with a separate file from the same job.

  • Input: .csv · UTF-8
  • Output: CSV or ZIP
  • Auto / UA / US

Step by step

  1. Export products as Plain CSV

In Shopify, open Products → Export and select Plain CSV. Required columns are Title, Handle (or URL handle), Body (HTML) (or Description), SEO Title and SEO Description (SEO title/SEO description are also supported). Keep all variant and image rows together; do not sort them separately.

  2. Choose Shopify and your options

Select Auto, Ukraine (UA + RU) or USA (English). Auto detects the source language; products outside the selected market’s language are skipped. Uplify styling is the default, with clean HTML also available. Classic, Editorial, Soft and Cards styles apply only with styling enabled. Appending tags is optional.

  3. Decide whether to rewrite rich descriptions

Detailed descriptions are skipped by default. Select overwrite to process them. Products previously generated by the service are skipped. The job can update Title, description, SEO Title/Description and optionally append tags. It does not generate prices, variants or images.

  4. Import the product result

Review the report and CSV. Import into Shopify with “Overwrite products with matching handles”, starting with 2–3 products. Keep the original handles. Large results come as a ZIP of CSV files up to 15 MB each; import each file separately.

  5. UA: export Russian translations after importing

For a store with Ukrainian as its default language, add Russian as a secondary language in Shopify. In Settings → Languages, export a Russian translations CSV including the relevant products. Export after importing our product CSV so Default content matches the job’s output.

  6. Upload translations to the same job

Use “RU CSV” on the completed UA job to upload that translations CSV. The service returns shopify-translations-uplify.csv with validated title, body_html, meta_title and meta_description translations. Import it in Settings → Languages → Import. US jobs have no separate Russian output.

Review the result

Wait for the job to finish in your history. Review the generated text and the available “Not processed” report, which lists identifiers and reasons for skipped or failed items. A downloadable file does not mean every product was updated.

Import checklist

  • Keep the translation export columns: Type, Identification, Field, Locale, Market, Status, Default content, Translated content.
  • Changed, ambiguous or unmatched records are left unfilled. Review the counters after uploading. If default content changes, obtain a fresh export.
  • Uplify does not connect to your store automatically. You import both files and decide whether to overwrite existing translations.
